IT'S HOT OUT THERE! (Jan Rice   Sep 11)

Remember the importance of proper hydration before during and after a tennis match!  There are special products available to maintain your electroylyte balance especially when exercising in extreme conditions.  The FOCUS here is on PREVENTION!  Heat related illnesses can progress very quickly with serious consequences!  See below for the USTA rule currently in place.  Our Suncoat tennis league follows this rule.  "No extra time is allowed for recovering condition" because that is the only way to safely recover.  You must stop play, get out of the heat and cool down as soon as possible.

Friend of Court:  NO EXTRA TIME SHALL BE GIVEN TO ALLOW A PLAYER TO RECOVER CONDITION.  hOWEVER, A PLAYER SUFFERING FROM A TREATABLE MEDICAL CONDITION MY BE ALLOWED ONE MEDICAL TIMEOUT OF THREE MINUTES FOR THE TREATMENT OF THAT MEDICAL CONDITIN (r#29c)

Use common sense, stay cool and be smart!  We want you around for many league matches to come!

VINOY DIRECTIONS HAVE CHANGED! (Jan Rice   Aug 11)

The court entrance is now facing 7th Avenue between courts 8 and 9, so right across from the dog park.  There is a shell rock path leading from the make-shift Pro Shop (Trailer) to the entrance following 7th Avenue.  Right now there is no good way to get from the main parking garage (entrance on 5th Avenue) to the courts, so your best bet for parking is the free lot where 7th Avenue dead ends into Bayshore (on your left as you face the bay).  This is a big lot with no time limit, it backs up to the playground by Northshore Pool, it is a short walk back up 7th Avenue to the new entrance for the Courts.  The other parking option is street parking next to the dog park on North Shore Blvd, but this is LIMITED to 2 hours and then you have to move your car or get a ticket.  The city has been pretty diligent on chalking your tires and giving out tickets.  The 2 hour limit should be good enough, unless you go to a third set! So again, I would recommend the free/no time limit parking lot at 7th Avenue and Bayshore Blvd.  If you come in on 5th Avenue, just follow 5th Avenue around the Vinoy condos and it will dead end into the lot in front of you (with on bay on your right).  Then walk up 7th Avenue (dog park on your right) to the court entrance between courts 8 and 9.  I hope this makes sense, you may want to encourage the players to give themselves an extra 5-10 minutes to find the new lot.
