Little Aces Scarborough Launch

On Saturday, June 28th, Scarborough Tennis Federation (STF) launched Little Aces Scarborough. See the photographs displayed above.

We had over 250 in attendance, and everyone (in particular the kids) had a great time!

The weather was perfect, and those in attendance enjoyed the free pizza, bottled water (donated by ESKA), Lindt chocolate (donated by Lindt), Rogers Cup tickets (donated by Tennis Canada), bouncy castle (donated by Pizza Pizza), face painting/tattoos, and of course the tennis (including the OTA's Smash Cage)! They also enjoyed appearances by Rogers Cup Mascot ACE, Spider-Man, Hello Kitty, and a wandering Magician. Representatives from Pan Am Games were there as well, and so was Toronto Police and Toronto Fire. Needless to say, the kids (and some adults) enjoyed the photo ops with the Police Car and Fire Truck!

All of the activities took place in L'Amoreaux Tennis Centre's parking lot, and we had a wheelchair tennis demonstration, and some of our high performance juniors hitting on the outdoor courts.

WHAT IS LITTLE ACES TENNIS?

Little Aces is an organized tennis league program that was developed by Tennis Canada.

A system called “Progressive Tennis” will be used to introduce children of all ages to the sport of tennis. Progressive Tennis uses a scaled down format: smaller courts/mini-tennis nets, kid-size racquets, starter balls (large foam balls, and slower balls with less bounce), and an adapted scoring system. This system allows children to learn the sport in a fun and enjoyable way. As they grow, children advance to regulation courts with a solid understanding of the game already in place. We hope that they will enjoy the game and keep playing for life, as tennis IS a sport for life!
